In many posts I have seen text references to a fabled "wedge" etc wing retention in the Cormorant/Swan/Pelican/Schmelican (whatever you want to call it) mascot/hood-ornament.

There are seemingly no diagrams, photos, procedures in "the literature" or manuals that I've seen over the past 50 years.

So, the attached procedure gives you a pictoral guideline from my experience.

Be super patient and careful...as you all have experienced...pot metal is fragile, brittle and irreversible...it will keep you honest and/or you will eat Crow not Cormorant

Interesting seeing how the earlier Cormorants were put together and quite different than the later ones which had a literal wedge! I have a special wedge removal tool that I made decades ago but have needed to use it only once on my 1952 when having the ornament replated.

Can you share a photo of the cormorant and wedge for those designs? I'm sure a variety of people have different units.

Sorry, I don’t have one disassembled and the three for 1951 I have are hundreds of miles away at my Oregon shop.
