Trying to track down the production date for a very early 1915 Twin Six. The engine number is 80549.

Any info, or suggestions of where to look would be appreciated.

The FAQ would be a good place to start. Engine serial number reference:packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2727

That indeed gives it as a very early 1916 Twin Six. (There were no 1915's.)

In terms of hard data, you should check with the respective Packard Club roster keeper and the Packard Proving Grounds.

Why are you looking for this info?

We think the chassis was purchased by the family in late 1915 and sent to Brewster for coach work. Unfortunately, all of those purchase records are long gone. A production date would help to confirm the timing.

Also, there maybe a casting date on the engine block. While not a production date, at least you'll know the production date was after that.

Have you checked www.packardsonline.com?
That site has a wealth of knowledge about Twin-Sixes.
