1948 Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan project car

I need some advice. I was asked to restore this 1948 sedan for a gentleman that contacted me. Now, unfortunately he is not in a position to move forward with this project and would like to either have me part out the car or sell it (as a project car). He does not want to see his car end up in a scrap yard as he views it as a piece of US history. The car has a good body and frame with virtually no rusted through body panels. It's mechanicals are all original but in unknown condition as this car has been sitting in Colorado for the last 30 yrs. I have little knowledge on the market for this car and/or contacts for finding sources to aid in this endeavor. He has until mid Dec. to find a good home for his antique. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

This car has two rear bumpers and a complete interior except for the headliner which is shot. It also has an extra dashboard with odometer and all knobs are there. It was originally sold new in Denver CO and is believed to have never left the state.

These are the pics of this car. How should we try to sell it or would it be better to sell the individual parts separately?

Don't start parting it out unless you want it to sit in your driveway for the next 5 years. I would sell it whole if I were you.

I too would suggest selling the car as a complete unit. More money could probably be made by parting it out, but the time it would take would make it unfeasible.

On Hagerty a car like that in "Fair" condition has a value of $8,800 and one in "Excellent" is $23,800. It's looks like it's a long ways from fair condition and would require a considerable amount of time and money to get it back on the road.

If it's relatively complete, and fairly solid, that's a bonus. I would list it for sale and see if you can find someone that is looking for a project. Most likely it would be a local buyer as there isn't anything terribly unique about the car that would cause someone to drive halfway across the country to get it.

Hopefully you find someone that wants to give the car a new life.

thanks for the advice. I too really do not want to part it out and look for potential buyers.
