Hi everyone, the mechanic at our shop is installing the chrome running board trim for a customers 1937 120 and the clips that were purchased from Max Merritt don't fit that great. Has anyone used any other clips for their car and if so could you please share where you purchased them from? Thanks!

I don't have a specific part number to share, however, Restoration Specialties should be able to supply a proper clip. Most everything modern has gone to plastic....

In my Packard Parts List 1935-1941 on page U-18 (at the top right column in the 50.600 section), part number 335339 is the clip used on my car. It is the first one, 65/64 top, 1 1/64 bottom. There may be enough detail there to have some made?
Note too that there is a flat sheet metal spring clip at both ends of the trim piece that has a 1/4-20 stud on it for a more secure mount that goes through the round hole at the front fender and the rear of the running board.
Good luck,
Bob J.

A couple of options that I think work better and are far more secure than the stock spring push clips:

I bought two boxes of the Universal ones that you cut to length:

Buy it ended up not using them as I ended up grabbing a box of misc clips at Herhsey two years ago that had enough of the other style ones in it and they fit the running board trim.

If this is for Dezi's car, he is welcome to all those universal clips I have. You'll just need to snap them off to the correct length and I belive they take a 10-24 nut and washer.

Dezi, you know where I am at, feel free to pick them up at your convenience.

These work really well with a nylock nut. Then no danger of them loosening up or over tightening a lock washer and risk deforming the clip or the trim.

Thanks Kevin for saving the day! Yes, these are for Dezi's car. Dezi, can you please pick these assortment of clips from Kevin and give them to Chad so he can go ahead and install your running board trim on your car. Thanks!
