Hi Gerd and gang,

Was a nice evening in Berlin talking about Packards and ZILs and of course a beer or 2. Never thought Parcardinfo would lead me to Russian car enthusiasts.
Cheers,
Mike

How long is the shortest Zill 111 ????
How long is the shortest Zill 111 convertible????

I also notice that some Zill 111 cars have a bright trim piece over the headlites and also at the rear upsweep along the side. Does the addition of the bright trim piece indicate year or what????

Gerd: The last picture you posted is driving me crazy. What is the little red car in the picture. I know I am going to be wrong saying that it might be a BMW Dixi. Which later evolved into the 3/20PS.

John,

Looks like an early Fiat Topolino(Little mouse)to me. BTW - I understand Fiat stands for "Fix it again Tony".

Does the rod actually operate the second blades proportionally or just free them to open? Wondering how the MKS operation compares to the auxiliary velocity blades as used in the 56 version Rochester 4GC Packard used. That carb had the 4 regular throttle blades operated by linkage but also the extra pair in the secondaries which opened against spring pressure depending on air flow.

Another nice car but wondering about something else. While I'm sure Soviet people are as patriotic as any others, can't help but wonder about the sheer number. Consider the times, transportation & communication challenges to the other parts of country with what appear to be a phenomenal amount of people. How many were there because of what happened. Was it the social event of the season and the place to be so they're all jammed in for the fun or was it because the government "suggested" they be there to put a good show on things--or else wind up in Siberia.

Interesting materials to read. What concerns the carburetor MKS-K58, mostly no one has ever heard from such a thing!
I think Carter and/ore Edelbrock carburettors might have been used to design and build the MKS-K58.
I also have some drawings in a book, about the details for ZIL-111 and ZIS-110.
If I find time to get near a scanner, I try to post them here, so everyone could have a look at them.
So far as I know only one ZIL 111 is today present in Estonia.

G'day Steve,

Thank you Mal, it seems so that I might be the first one to this forum from Estonia. I found this site, by searching for 1955 Packard photos .
At first a thought I had lost the photos for the ZIL-111, but amazingly I found them!
