Hi, rowdy,

First, the kits already in the field have proven successful. No reason to doubt yours would be less so. The differences are probably within allowable production tolerances.

Having said this, the goal of this exercise is reliable Packard engines and peace of mind for our members. If you send me your adapter block, I'll have it QC checked against our new production.

thnx, jack vines

I also think we need a picture posted of the bottom of the Olds pump which has the shaft protruding out the bottom so people know what to look for in case their pump doesn't have that.

Yeah I would also be interested. Plan on rebuilding the engine soon so I might as well install one and save the trouble later on down the road.

Hi Jack,
I am thinking it would be easier for us Aussies to get the kit complete with instructions. Chasing a Melling pump to suit is not as easy as in US (and much more expensive).

I attempted to do the exercise, and it all got too hard - I do have one of the one off adaptors and Craig sourced a pump and screen locally and supplied the lot together - very smooth transaction.

My new engine has arrived and will get the new pump soon. I also have another to re-build in 2010.

Will keep in touch

Russ

Guess the consensus is both/and/or. I can include a new pump for those who want it that way.
