Help!

I am working on a 1947 Russian Zis 110 which I believe is a copy of a Packard 110. I have obtained some parts from Kanter Auto in the US but I am stuck for an oil bath air cleaner flame trap. Does anyone have one, or even a complete air cleaner assembly ? if so I can e mail pictures and dimensions to see if they are the same.

Many thanks.

Hello Motorhomeman and to packardinfo.com
I can understand your concern, we have some discussion in the ZIS,ZIL and other Packards cosines subforum under the sign ZIS 110 about the parts exchange between ZIS and Packards.

Im not sure if the 1941 Packard (from wich the ZIS is originated) air cleaner is 1:1 mach.
Do you have any pictures from the ZIS 110 you are working on?
You can tell us more about your car if you wish.

G'day Robert,
to PackardInfo. See you're in England, are there many Zis there? Please post your pic's and dimensions here so all can see.

We do have a specific forum for ZIS, ZIL and other Packard Cousins! where this thread would probably be better off. If you're agreeable our Webmaster, BigKev, can effect the transfer.

Our resident Zis expert, Gerd(Guscha), may be best placed to answer any questions you have.

Thanks for your Welcome. I have had contact with Guscha and he may be able to help.
In the meantime here is a photo of a Zis 110 air cleaner assembly. If anyone has the oil bath flame trap part laying around please contact me. The max dia across the rolled top lip is 8 and 1/8".

Thanks for the excellent photos. The packing looks like copper turnings, are they? Many oil bath filters here including some Packards used kapok. If you don't know what that is, it was used for years in marine life preservers. Google "kapok", a most-interesting tree.
