Turbo: Side subject: saw you work with aircraft parts in your bio...one of my customers is an FBO/service center and i have to download parts prices and inventory and update the listing services like partsbase, ilsmart, etc. I don't understand much about aircraft parts, but when i see a red or green lens cap going for $500 or a $20,000 windshield come across the inventory screen during update, i sure think twice about complaining about packard part pricing

No kidding huh?!! They pay $500 or more for a speaker that looks like a stock speaker out of an '87 Escort. The reason why everything's so high is because it has to be inspected over and over again to meet FAA requirements. Hell, we rejected carpet and leather (at $5000 a HIDE, I got's me some of that!) because it wouldn't pass burn certification. It's a totally f'n different world my friend.

You're telling me! I saw them sell an $80 O-Ring today...didn't look any different that one from my universal kit!!

They won't sell 100LL any way but direct to the plane either. Can't take 5 gallons home to check octane issues on the high compression pontiac. Rude!

Try medical. A mfgs rep can't go to ordinary store and buy or install any part that might affect the output or operation of an FDA certified unit. Instead has to be supplied by mfg to ensure part meets their specs. Some parts are mfg made assys only so understandable, but others are usually exact same part you can get from electronic or other store. Sometimes parts dept just picks up a catalog and orders but still considered a mfgs part because it was supplied by mfg. Cust pays anywhere from a hundred to a thousand to unbelievable percent more on the mfg supplied parts. Irony is if cust has their own biomed capable of working on system, they can buy the inexpensive part and install and be perfectly legal because they own the system. They cannot buy and let me install though because that would mean the mfg "blessed" it.

I hear that! I told my GF the other day that after seeing how everything works in the medical field that i should close up the IT shop and go into medical supplies...way healthier margins and half the end user headaches!

I do remember one boss i had that used to work in the medical field before we met, renting bedside commodes that cost the company $100 and they rented for $10 a week...dropping off beds and oxygen and what not.

The one thing he said about the subject that i remember (besides the commodes being "the golden commodes" because of how much money they made off them) is this:


"Dropped lots of oxygen off, but i don't know what it does for anyone. I mean, we never went and picked back up oxygen equipment because someone got better. They always just died."

Just didn't put AC on...if i was going to go ahead with it i'd either convert to 12v, or use a step up converter with a sanden compressor and HOPE that it didn't burn out.

You could also use a compressor on all the time setup and a hot gas bypass valve, but it's getting expensive to find the old style AC components.
