I don't think they are factory, at least not for a 37 120. They are parts picked for ebay down the road. I have taken them off the parts car along with the Banjo wheel that I have put into storage. So far the rest of the car is still as pictured.

Today I worked on the 1098 Coupe. I am going to use the rebuilt motor, Trumpet horns, New wiring harness (From Rhode Island),Gas tank, and the Drive Shaft for our Sport Coupe. I have all those parts unrestored to go back on the Bus coupe in exchange. However I have determined the frame on the bus coupe is not up to par. Its a northern car and it has pits and rust-out areas on the running board supports. So I will be changing that out also. The front shocks are from a later Packard I am guessing without cross referencing the numbers from maybe a 47-48. (I have a picture of one down on this post) So they are to be discarded. (not thrown away of course). I had to go in and out today to take off parts as it was off and on raining but got enough done to cross off my to do list. I am using the motor from the 1098 but I have a manifold set that the porcelain is good on both which is rare to find. So I took that off the motor prior to pulling it. 30 years ago I broke a exhaust manifold pulling a motor so I probably would have taken it off anyway before yanking the motor out.

Parts I have bought in the last month for the Business Coupe

1. Complete hood
2. Both front inner fenders
3. Grille shell
4. Trunk lid (I thought that was going to be tough but was not)
5. Seat

The car is at 95% complete we only need now

1. 1 Bumper guard
2. Both sill plates ( I think they are repo'd)
3. Right side head light lens
4. Deluxe heater (one that came with it is for a 38)

On the Sport Coupe we need

1. Super 8 gear shift knob (found repo $160.00)
2. Bumper step for Rumble seat (found repo $125.00)
3. Radiator for the (Thermo Grille (might be tough)
4. Rumble seat seat springs
5. lots of money

I don't think the shock shown is post war. The Clipper/postwar shocks had a different connection arrangement that involved an eccentric pin instead of pilot washers with fixed, predetermined offsets. When you get the numbers off the shocks it will be easy to check.

Well its been an exciting week here at the Packard house. I found a 1937 120 front seat for sale in Wisconsin. A man there had a seat redone then opted for bucket seats so I bought his. It came and it is so nice I am going to change our interior color to grey. The pictures below don't do it justice. Also bought a radio head for the Sport Coupe. I had the PA5150 box but no head. Big news I am dealing on a 138" 120CD Limo. That my son in Kansas and I will have redone there. Pretty rare car dual sidemounts, although no Banjo wheel, nor radio. I will post some pics when we get it to Kansas.

Hello Don, Do you know about the horizontal support bars (37 115C) that hold the vertcal chrome grill slats at an even space to each other? They have these twists between each vert slat that seems very difficult to reproduce as I re assemble the chromed grill. Do you have any info on this? Any grill experts who can do it or use alternatinve method. Thanks Richard

Don, I noticed the oil pressure gauge tubing in the photo of the engine. If you move the connection to the last (rear) tap you can shorten the tubing and, I think, will make it correct. Plus, it will be more safe as it will be shorter. The coiled tubing should be kept to absorb vibration differences between the engine and body. Neat car.
