Hi folks, sorry to not update sooner. Between work, school, and our recent three day trip up north for the annual antique car meet I have been playing catch up.

I have made contact with the Riverside Casino Resort and have some information to share. The best weekend appears to be Labor Day Veterans Day weekend November 11th 2011. The rate would be at a cost of $35 mid week and $52 weekend room rates.

We would need a minimum commitment of 10 rooms. I think this is achievable. After time for folks to consume this and provide feedback, we can proceed to lock rates and dates with the Riverside.

Basically, rooms would be reserved by the individual attendee and the Riverside would collect the deposit and reserve the individuals room keeping a running total of attendees so we would know when the minimum block has been met. The only minimal concern is if for some reason the minimum was not achieved we (the organizers) would be financially responsible.

I guess the big question is do we want to arrive the 11th which is a Friday and depart on Sunday the 13th? Or do we want to arrive on Thursday the 10th to allow a day of tour Friday, a impromptu show Saturday, banquet Saturday afternoon or night and depart Sunday the 13th.

I personally like the idea of 10th through the 13th but am open to suggestions.

I hope to hear more from those interested.

Jim, did you mean to say Veterans Day weekend? Just don't want to cause any confusion.

Since that long weekend runs Fri-Sat-Sun, I would think people would want to start arriving in late on Thursday, with the some not coming in till Friday.

I think your tentative schedule of Fri Tour, Sat Car Show & Dinner, and Sun depart is a good one. We could possible to a small parts exchange on Sun morning for those that are interested.

I am sure we can figure out activities to fill in the "dead" time over the next year of prep.

Kev, indeed you are correct. I will go back and correct to avoid any confusion.

It sounds like Thursday arrival would make sense and give us time to arrive and settle in. I will resume communication with the Riverside and begin to firm this up a bit more as time allows.

Let's start getting a preliminary head count. I'm obviously in, so that's 1.

Remember folks this is 14 months away, so plenty of time to save and plan for it. Speak up and be counted. This is a drive what you can event. We would love to see you and your Packard, but just having good folks together is the point. Perhaps by then my budget build Clipper will be able to make the journey.

Neat idea. Perhaps we'd have some fellows from the PAC & PI regions join us too? PI has a very strong club in the Phoenix area and So. Cal, as we all know, is the epicenter of the west coast Packard hobby.

Count me in.

That's a crazy coincidence, I'm getting married on 11-11-11 @ 11:11 am. In Ga and I'll be travelling what's left of Route 66 in my Packard for our honeymoon. That is actually the reason I built my Packard. But anyway sounds like I'm going to miss ya by a week or so. I hope you guys have a great turnout and I hope it becomes an annual meet.

11/11/11?? That's a long ways away and at my age making plans for a year in advance is tough, but I have mentioned this to another geezer and have tentatively put this on my schedule. Besides which I have a friend living in Bullhead City that I haven't seen since high school. So mark me down with a faint check mark. Does Hertz rent Packards out there?

Now I don't know with certainty who you're refering to with that characterization, but I think I know. I don't even have an AARP card yet!!

We are from Canada and winter in Tucson. That would be the time of year we head to Tucson and would be perfect timing for a Packard show enroute. We wouldn't be driving our '53 Mayfair in that we have only owned it for two months. We'd love to meet all you characters that we read about on Packardinfo.com. Count us in.
