G'day Charles,

Rather than "Today is the beginning of the end..." wouldn't it be "today is the end of the beginning"? My nitpicking aside, I'll certainly "Stay tuned for the next chapter". Having followed your '51 Blog and it's up and downs with admiration for the way in which you stuck to a very daunting task, I'm very much looking forward to see what and how you address any challenges the '52 will present. And a question, after your research into shipping, how did you get the '52 from Texas to Wisconsin?
Now the real reason for this post, my for so promptly including the '52 200 Deluxe Touring Sedan in the Registry. And, could you please update the Registry when the fate of your '51 200 Touring Sedan is settled?

Thanks Mal,
I plan on updating my original shipping thread with my notes and experiences for future readers. It may help them understand the process and what to look out for.

As for the '51, I'll keep it as is until it ceases to be a car anymore! Right now, I can call myself a Packard collector because I have more than one!

Thanks Larry, I have been enjoying yours as well! Thank you for your help during this project. Sad that it is not ending the way I had planned, but I am light years ahead with the other car.

After selling/cutting much of the rear end, this is how the car is now. I'm amazed at how little there are to these cars. Once the metal is cut and compacted, not much to these things...

I told my wife, "you know, I can put the front doors back on and use our left over plywood from roofing the garage to make this into a very useful pick up." She just "gave me the look" and said "no". LOL

More metal cutting. Got the wiper parts, dash, and other misc parts off the firewall. Got most of the floor removed. Exposed the trans on the passenger side and I found an interesting item. Looks like the shipping label from where I got the rebuilt transmission from. Survived taped to the top of the trans all these years.

Next steps will be to remove some more floor and try to get the engine, trans, drive shaft and differential out.

Engine and trans are out! It went pretty smoothly, but was time consuming and the angle the engine ended up (I do not have a load leveler) was a little alarming.

Took the nuts off the engine mounts, disconnected the trans cooler lines and unbolted the trans mount while supporting the trans with a jack under it.

That was it. I'm glad it's done and the car is almost gone.

What is the best way to store these? Bolted together? I have seen ultramatics stored upright on their bell housings. Is this OK? Keep some oil in the engine and turn it over once in a while?

Next will probably be the front suspension. Is any of it worth keeping or should I scrap it all?
