The following Website Areas are now wired into the search box:

Owner Registry
Model Info Pages
Service Index


For example try searching 'Ultramatic' in the Search Box to see all the Service Index information related to Ultramatics. Or 'Ultramatic Throttle' to see all the information that relates to Ultramatics and Throttle related issues.

The same goes for the Model Info pages, search by model name, chassis, model number, carb, etc.

The expanded scope of the site search works wonderfully and should be of great help to people who - for reasons that escape me - haven't checked out these features, previously. This site is so much more than a mere discussion forum.

The inclusion of the Service Index in the site search function is especially helpful, as the text in any PDF documents that were scanned as images is not searchable, otherwise. Heck, I even found a topic that, while picked up by your expanded search, could benefit from some rephrasing.

Alas, while I now see a need for some heavy editing of my Packard Service Information FAQ, I can't do it, since the timeout for editing was reduced.

Very nice and should be a big help. Is there a way to only search one section? Even if only one box or category is checked to start, it brings back the term from everywhere and all sections are checked.

Yes, I've encountered that glitch, as well. It poses more of a problem now that EIGHT areas are searched.

I sent BigKev a PM on the subject about an hour ago.

Parts X-Ref added to the global search box, and the Parts-Ref section has been rewritten. Should be easier to find things now.

Was waiting to hear what others had to say, but I'll start off.

I like the new categorized approach. Looks like you followed the shop manual categories. Personally, I would have preferred the parts catalog sections (as I did in composing an x-ref for another club), but we would have needed subsections for standard vs. Ultramatic, here.

I would have also like to see Group numbers included, but not everyone is familiar enough with those and a few parts fall into more than one group. Also, judging from the fine print of the listings, space seems to be at a premium.

Due to my lack of familarity, perhaps I am missing other changes.
