Am almost finished with fabrication on the coupe-pickup. Worked out the details of the bed floor, tailgate cap and fittings. Made some Caribbean style side moldings and was pleased to find that an upper windshield molding from a 53 sedan made a pair of B to C pillar beltline moldings with just 2 inches left over.

Yet another roadster idea careening through my head I am calling the Packard Land Shark. This will have an underslung chassis of, uh, striking appearance and as such will need a straight front axle.

Speedway Motors offers straight front axles in any width you specify and you may have it to take either Ford or Chevrolet spindles as you will. Fact #1:Heaven knows I am way too cheap to buy spindles and drums from another car when Packard items are already piled up in the basement. Fact #2: Chevrolets used the same diameter kingpins and had similar kingpin inclination as Packard. So with only a few keystrokes I obtained a straight axle that accepts 41-56 Packard kingpins, spindles and brakes. Oh boy. I only need to make a spacer.

Have finished all the fabrication on the coupe-pickup. As you can see, those fiber stripping wheels they sell work T-Tom Terrific on a right angle grinder. As an example, the right front fender took me less than 40 minutes. They don't damage the metal. It turns out it was more economical by far to strip the car by that method than having someone come and blast it--plus there is no sand to endlessly deal with.

Now I am in the middle of dinking out the dinkles and I'm replacing the too-crunchy rocker panels. The ones from C to C fit adequately.

100% agree. The stripping discs are great and do not damage the metal.

I'm still vacuuming up sand from when I had the interior blasted a year and a half ago. What a mess.

Like the way you used part of trunk lid to finish the tail gate makes for a nice custom finished look. Lot of hand work and thinking go into completion of transformation from car to truck Nice work

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.
