Amazing. I just went out to the storeage bulding and dug one out that looks just like yours Packards1. Has identicle "FOG" embossed into the glass in the same location as yours. MIne has "GE" in the centre. MIne is 12v tho and it does cast the flat lined beam.

The Chrome housing of mine is different from yours and probably not a Packard accessory. However, it has 'PM-405' stamped into the top of retaining rim.

" would say that the light pattern is not like what I would call a fog light as the beam pattern is very round"

And i'm guessing very long distance beam too. IT's most likely a spotlite beam. I have a box of 4-1/2" used beams here that i've collected over the years. Some are marked "FOG", "auto tractor", among other markings i can't remeber rite now.
I have 2wo 6volt spot lite sealed beams i ran on my Chief accessory bar for decades. They have always been refered to by Indian experts as spot lites and cast a very narrow round beam that is very piercing long distance. Never liked them either.
Also have some 4-1/2" emergency lite beams used in buildings that are marked as such that will fit the various auto/motorcycle accessory lite housings i have around here. Probably not vibration proof enuf for automotive tho. I don;t know.
