They may have been looking for timelessness, but imo they got clunky and boring instead. The '61-69 Lincoln was what they should have been, or, if not obsessed with geometry, the highly NON geometric, most beautiful full-sized automobiles ever built: the early Fuselage C-Body Mopars of 69-71, the '70 Imperial coupe being the zenith of the breed. I had a '69 Imp and still have 70 and 71 Furys, a convertible and a sedan.

Like there's a huge number of ZIS/ZIL cars for their US design staff to examine and measure here. The "custom made" probably means it has ZIS or ZIL written on it somewhere.

With that price and throw in free shipping as well, surely an item of impeccable quality good till the end of time.

Of course, as pointed out, another option: Ebay never lets any less than reputable companies sell.

A company in L.A. offer covers for a 1949 - 1953 Soviet public service vehicle? A cover for a Russian bus? For $40 including shipping? Must be a good seller.



Ok, I don't know and the seller is top-rated because of his perfect performance, that goes without dispute.
For clarification I've sent an e-mail to the seller. It cannot be ruled out that I'll have to eat humble pie.

I doubt it. It is questionable and I think we are both agreed the price is way too low for anything of quality, particularly for bus covers. I don't know how much those spray protector covers cost the school districts then but a pretty penny I'm sure and enough that schools being broke, the buses take their chances now. Of course, the state has limited aerial spraying in so many cases in the last few years-- wind drift, temp, population density, neighboring crops, farmworkers in neighboring fields, etc etc etc they are probably no longer needed. If it is legit, for $40.00, all they would probably be is a piece of plastic sheeting, thin at that.

Now I can see people wanting to order just to see if they actually make it to fit a bus!

All in jest. In the meantime let's enjoy its "studded belts". Its design reminds me on an airplane or ship around the turn of the 20th century.

Ok, back to edutaining subjects. To close the circle I would like to mention that this Soviet bus had been produced under GM license. The so-called "old look" bus was the father of the ZIS / ZIL model range 154-155 but with other dimensions.

I can't find that listing now to get the exact wording -- coverman or whatever it was and have no patience for that ebay search and 15000 items -- but they had ZIS/ZIL seat covers listed as well. Down at the bottom of the description was a small disclaimer that while their seat covers would fit, they were based on a universal set of similar vehicle measurements and may need refinement or adjustment upon installation -- or something like that. I suspect that is the car cover situation as well.
