How to change the front bumper bullits ?

I need to take off the front bumper dagmars.One is damaged and the other is rusty.Finally I have found both new but I have been wondering how I take them off without losing the bumper from the car.Any idea ?

It was a number of years ago that I changed one on my 56, I assume a 55 is the same. As I recall, just crawl under and behind the bumper and remove the attaching bolts. There are 3 as I remember, two at the lower lip and a larger central one. No need to remove the bumper bar.

no need to remove the bumper unless the 3 bolts are so rusted on that you cannot get enough leverage to break them loose.

According to parts book, yes. They each have the same number of bolts, but the placement on the bumper might be just enough different to require a slightly different opening or since there is a different upper bumper bar 55-6 there may be a slightly different contour.
