Bill,

Hope you and Sue have a very enjoyable trip. From the sounds of your request, if you're successful, you certainly won't be going into "Packard restorers withdrawal" while you're away.

Suggest reviewing the Packard Owner's Registry for other 2279 owners and sending them PM's and/or emails if they give that in their profiles. See there are 5 x 2279's and 5 x 2279-9's, but one of those is in Norway a little out of your way!

Pic below shows Bill and his Convertible in March earlier this year when I visited him.

Bill,

I sent you the diagram for the top cylinders. I have a 2279-9 in South Dakota and if you don't get to see one on your journey I would be glad to send photo's. This museum may be close enough for you to get to.

During your trip to Southern California, I suggest a visit to the good folks at Custom Auto Service in Santa Ana. Robert Escalante (owner) and his brother Sandy will help you in any way they can.

Dear Bill:

Too bad you are not in my area.

However, you might try contacting the Forney Museum in Denver CO 303-297-1113

They also handle storage and perhaps there is one in storage that the owner will let you look at.

Good luck

The generosity of Packard owners is great to see and experience. Thank you 48pack-conv, pac120c and Tim for your suggestions. May be able to get to Kentucky but certainly will be able to visit Custom Auto Service.
Cheers,
Bill
