HELP - ID this Packard and Owner

Hello All:
I am not familiar with the early Packards and saw this on the Shorpy.com website
http://www.shorpy.com/node/11496

I have cropped the photo to highlight only the car. The photo was taken in 1908 according to the text and I believe the location was on Belle Isle.

However, I am unsure of the model. Body style is a Runabout, but I think it is a 1906 model S (24).

Any idea who the driver is?

Appreciate the help

Also note girl setting on back of car. Very peculiar. She is considerably younger than the man driving. Is that radiator cap kosher or somekind of special equipment??? I would look at shipping or rail big wig pictures for driver resemblence.

Edit: try Judge augustus Woodward. Mite be a little early for him tho.

I neither see anything on the seat (goose), nor a hood ornament.?????? Are we looking at the same photo, or are you mistaking the cowl lights as other objects?

My take is goose statues are reflections off leather pleats, hood ornament is the L side cowl light and lady could be walking but if so would seem to be very tall. Is that a rear facing seat on the Packard.

Roger, not an era I'm as familiar with as I wish I were, but sure looks like a Model 24.

Yes. Thanks HH56. I see it that way now. However, since i'm assuming that was supposed to be a professional photo it was very UNprofessional not to photograph AFTER any unreheaesed bystanders had past on thru the scene.

Kind of tough to do when shooting an 8x10" view camera.
