To those with original cars out there..........is this disk (for the lack of a better word) something that an "original" Packard had inside the trunk. I've never seen such an thing?

Thanks

It's the disc that goes in the center of the spare wheel thru which the hold-down eyebolt is attached. I'm not sure what year it's from, perhaps 22nd/23rd series cars. They were also used on sidemounted wheels, style varied depending on the year and application.

No guarantees... but I have the exact same hold-down in the '41, '49, and '50.

Mine were all black [but so are two of the cars]. I doubt Packard would have gone to the expense and assembly line fuss of matching up body color for something that is hidden under a black pseudo hubcap [22nd/23rd series].

So... the convex disk with the off-center hole that was in my trunk when I acquired my '48 is the cover for this hold down, which I am missing?
