Brake Adjustment Spring

1954 Packard Clipper two-door club sedan 327ci/165hp L8.

Does anybody have a part number for the brake adjustment spring for the front brakes? This is the spring that holds the bottom of the shoes together and it sits under the brake adjusting screw.

Thanks again for your time. Getting ready to do that brake job when it finally cools off in Texas.

Steve, you can probably buy one as part of a brake hardware overhaul kit sold by vendors. Actually, you may be able to get the spring at a parts store. The Bendix brake system used on Packards was popular with may other makes too. Don't think it makes any difference if the kit is for the self-adjusting kind. Good luck.

We had a cold front come through Friday. Saturday, it was in the low 60s about 30 degrees cooler than Friday when it was in the low 90s. Plus, we got a lot of needed rain with maybe a bit more today. Worked out in the garage on both days, much more pleasant working conditions yesterday. Summer here is not over, but it took a big hit.
