Remove the single screw and nut holding the pedal pads on the arm ends and then pull back the carpet so you can access and remove the screws holding the floor plate. If the carpet is bulky you may need to remove the accelerator pedal to give the carpet enough room to fold back and be able to reach a couple of the floor plate screws. If you do remove the accelerator pedal, it is held at the bottom by a pin with a circlip retainer at the tunnel side. Find and remove that clip and pull the pin out. It is connected to the linkage by a ball on the metal rod which inserts into a receiver pocket molded to the rubber back of pedal. Reach over the top of pedal to hold the receiver pocket tight to pedal with fingers on either side of the linkage while you pull the ball out. Use care the receiver pocket doesn't separate from the pedal.

Once the carpet and plate is out of the way use some lube on the pedal arms and inside of boots so the boots slide down the arms easily. Push them down small end first until they sit on the small pad at the bottom of the arms. I would use non staining silicone grease or something that will not damage the rubber and wipe all of it off after the boots are in place before replacing the floor plate and carpet. I believe some have said dishwashing liquid soap also worked well as a lube.
