Hi, Does any one have thoughts on the 1956 Clipper referenced above.
History, previous ownership or any other information about the car would be
appreciated. If any of you are aware off the cars condition that would be very helpful.
Thank you
John Miller

John - are you referring to this one?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-Packard-Clipper/253505337299?hash=item3b061877d3:g:q6EAAOSwX2xasHc2&vxp=mtr

It's hard to tell from the photos on eBay, but it looks like a nice Deluxe. My guess is that it is a re-paint.

I'm probably too much of a purist, but it's always a turn off to me to see that the Ultramatic has been replaced by a Chrysler transmission even though I understand the reasons for it having been done.

The photos indicate the trunk mat is original and in good condition. That's a rarity.

Thank You. I agree with your comments. There are better photos on the Liquidators web site.
The dealer has no history or records with the car. So it is a shot in the dark.
I was hoping it was a known car in the Texas Packard world.
Guess the next step is to have it inspected.
We live in California so better to be safe.
thanks
John

Yes! I don't live far from you - I'm near Sacramento.

It likely would be worth the money to have it inspected.

Yea, its clean but the price is high for a car with no history.
Seems strange to try and sell a #3 or3+ car at a #1 price without history.
Think I will stick to cars with a verified history.
I.E. members on this Packard site or Clubs.
This will be our third packard on our 55 had to" REBUILD" a rebuilt engine and trans after we bought it.
Especially not hearing from anyone near the car in Texas.
thanks
John

Spot-on! All the more so as it is a Clipper Deluxe, the least expensive Clipper built .. and consequently the least desirable.

I know the desirability of a low level clipper sedan does not appeal to some.
However I really appreciate the lines and the minimum trim which really accentuate the exterior design of the car, very clean.
Just a thought, This is not kosher but the interior could always be upgraded to a correct clipper super interior.
That would really shake up the purist.

Back to reality I have decided to let this car pass.
Looking for one closer to home
thanks
John
