Some Packard people in Pasadena, California have what may be one of the country's largest American Flyer electric train set ups. It occupies what was once a dance ballroom in a huge mansion and is a magnificent layout. I've been lucky enough to view this very large layout several times.

I still have most of my own American Flyer trains and train sets from the 1940s and 1950s (perhaps 20 in all) along with lots of track and original literature that went with them.

My grandpa preferred Lionel trains and at one time in the 1950s he had one of the largest layouts in Michigan. He also liked Packards, but his absolute favorite cars were Imperials... and he had a few of them too!

I collect HO scale Schuco Monorails but haven't had them set up in years. If I set them up again, it would be great to find a futuristic Packard model or two to go with it!

My favorite manufacturer is IVES, but they folded in 1930. They did make some magnificent trains though. The copper one is named "The Prosperrity Special".

Joe thanks.kbew knew some one would know. That was posted on an 0 ga forum. (0gr).

Cool trunk run. Not sure with flyer. But Lionel will run on DC also.

I plan on making a STD ga Packard train set. Might be a Hudson type engine.

I have some IVES. O and STD.

I learned from a vintage train shop keeper in Dallas years ago that these vintage electric trains are slowly going away. It seems the materials used back in the day react and parts eventually get eaten up. I believe the wheels are especially affected.

Also - in the first photo - is that train set a Lionel? I was under the impression the American Flyer used two rails and Lionel used three. The track pictured has three rails. Or is it an AF on L rails?
