In the Packard Classifieds section on the Packard Club Website is a For Sale Ad for a '54 Packard Camper! I'd include a direct link to the Ad but you can't seem to do that with the PAC site. Instead I've copied the wording and included the photo, below.

"This is a 1954 Packard Camper. The camper section is "Thompson Crank the Top". There is a patent tag on the vehicle for it. The top raises up and is a sleeper above. This is all a factory part installed new by Packard and sold showroom, at the time. My Gpa bought this brand new and I camped in it as a child. Motor has 15k ORIGINAL miles. It still has the original tires it was sold with!(now deteriorated) Car is complete and all original glass intact, hubcaps, lights and emblems, besides 1 driver side window. As far as I know, there was only 5 made and this is probably the only one left. Do not really want to sell it...but I need to."

Would like to know if this is "real".

Highly unlikely that the conversion was done by Packard.

The car is not a 1954 but is a 1951 or 1952 Clipper (1951 hood with letters and 1952 grille with emblem)

Been nice if they'd showed a side and rear view of the car.......

No such thing as a 1951 or 1952 Clipper (the name wasn't revived until 1953) but clearly a junior model.
