I never met Mr Bahre but I did have the opportunity to visit his collection twice. In recent years it's been open to the public one day a year, and I certainly hope at least some of you had the chance to visit. Spectacular collection including some of the rarest and finest prewar Classics, Packard and others, noteworthy among them the 1934 Packard LeBaron 1106s and 1108, and the "Car of the Dome".

Packard's front wheel drive experiment, which led to the 1932 Twin Six, is well-known to those who have read the Kimes-edited AQ or Turnquist book. What many of us, myself included, didn't know until the Centennial in 1999 was that it still existed!

Ed Blend had a chance to buy the FWD Packard in the 1950s for about $1,000 but he passed on it. He wrote about it in a "Cormorant News Bulletin" in the 1990s.

Here's the car, next to the Predictor, at the Magnum Opus in 1999 at Warren, Ohio.

I saw the prototype FWD V12 car at Pebble Beach. Nothing on the car would identify it as a Packard. I walked past it not realizing what it was. Later, looking at the program, I saw the car was on the green. Went back and spent a lot of time looking at it and talking with a person from the museum. I took many photos, some of which I have shared here.

In case you might have missed it, if you go back to the original post in this thread, and then click on the link to the obituary, within the obituary you will find a link to photos of his collection taken on one of open houses. If I can, I'll add that link here.

Here it is:

Bahre's home was formerly the home of Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln's Vice President.
