Going to attempt to rebuild my trico nu mastic washer pump. Good tutorial on this website! 2 questions . What is the material under the lid ? And what can be used to replace it? Also is there a source for the hand rivet setting tool?

Thanks

If the vendor who sold the repair kit does not have the lid gasket then I expect the best option will be to get a gasket punch set with appropriate size punches and some sheet material to make your own using the old piece as a pattern.

Amazon has a couple of fairly inexpensive punch sets with punch sizes going up to 1 1/4 or 1 3/8 inches and both Amazon or McMaster-Carr have flat gasket material in small quantity. While I didn't see the exact type material with the shiny wax like surface they do have some in tan and brown shades. McMaster has a better selection and the ability to narrow the search of the materials to various color, thickness, water, and abrasion resistant properties.

Good suggestion from HH56. I bought a nice set of hole punches at Harbor Freight.

Whenever I need a gasket that hasn't been reproduced, I have Olson's make it and save the pattern. That way the next person who needs one can easily get it!

I believe the rivets used on the Trico washer are 1/16" diameter semi tubular rivets and a dedicated tool for that size seems to be somewhat expensive for a one time use. McMaster-Carr does carry them though.https://www.mcmaster.com/6667A001/ If there is no minimum order involved then Hanson Rivethttps://www.erivet.com/product_detail.cfm?itemNbr=HT-350 has the same tool for approximately half as much. If the rivet turns out to be smaller than 1/16" then Hanson Rivet also has tools for smaller diameters but those are much more expensive.

Another possibility MIGHT be a sash rivet tool which is less expensive. The caveat is that sash rivets appear to be 3/32" in diameter. That would mean the slightly larger diameter end that fits those rivets would probably make the tip too large to fit in the end of the smaller rivet. If the tip does not fit POSSIBLY it could be filed or ground down just a tiny bit but I don't know for sure. Amazon has the sash rivet tool if you wanted to give it a try.

so part ways into rebuilding my washer pump and I find the pick up tube is longer than another one I have. Approximately 3/4" longer. they have the same part no. though one has "H4" on it the other has just "4" is something amiss? or shall I just carry on?
the one photo shows the shorter pick up tube in the jar.
I used a tap washer screen to replace the one missing in the pick up tube, cut it and crammed it in, hope it stays.
