We have a '55 Clipper Custom that the Speedo needle fell off of. Does anyone have a needle or know where I might get one? How is it secured to the shaft? Thank you for any help.

I had my 56 Clipper speedometer rebuilt by John Wolf & Co. in Ohio,http://antiqueinstrument.com/
and they had a replacement for mine which had broken when the speedometer failed.

The pointer attaches to the tiny speed cup shaft just by press-fit. Typically I will rotate the pointer counter-clockwise as I press it on, then adjust to 0 miles per hour.
I suspect I have both the speed cup if it's broken and the pointer for your car.

For what it's worth, typically when is speedometer comes in to my shop with a missing needle, the tip of the speed cup shaft is also broken off. I hope this helps. Pat

Sorry for the delay in answering. Sometimes life gets in the way of things that need to be done.

Where is your shop? As my wife's car hass only 44k miles we would like to keep it as near orig as possible. How long does a "rebuild" of the speedo/cluster take?
