Removed motor replaced brushes on driver’s side window, works fine except stops about ¼ inch shy of full height. Did I miss a preload on the spring mechanisms when I refastened the motor to the mechanism? Or maybe there is something that I am not seeing?

Thanks for the feedback. New guides with new felt, I have been working on adjustment with no improvement which led me to wonder about a preload.

I think it is not tightened up. I will make sure it's all the way up tomorrow. Thank you.

While the panel is off it would be a good idea to carefully check the area in the square including the portion just out of the photo that bends up toward the glass.

On two doors the sheetmetal in this area is prone to cracking. When the window hits either stop and motor is still going the regulator portion held by the single bolt sort of twists and flexes the metal. Cracks can appear anywhere from the bolt upward and often starts at the glass opening.

If you find anything suspicious add some sort of stiffener bar across the panel to reduce the flexing. Needs to extend a fair distance on either side of the bolt. A 3 ft long piece of 1/8 flat stock from the hardware store works well if it has a few screws spaced across the length to hold it.

Window now all the way up against the stop on the top of the vent. Very good!
Now have to determine why can't get flipper to close properly. Once again thanks, you saved me from another wild goose chase.

One thing to check on the flippers closing is if the plastic piece over the actuating tab that the vent window presses against is present and in good condition. If not some of the Ford vendors and maybe some Chevy vendors have replacements -- also there are new replacment springs available if yours are weak. Have not tried either of the items to make sure they are the same as those Packard used but at a quick glance they appear to be.

Hopefully your vent window frame is not broken.
