I was encouraged to start documenting my various car projects which will be a very slow go but I have been documenting some stuff offline over the past few months so a flurry of updates with glacial pace to follow.

Gear shift replacement

Trying to keep as original as possible I found a gear shift knob from a 1940. Two issues to contend with on this: (1) the thread is different, (2) the thread and sleeve on the one was partial. Ended up cutting the sleeve from my '39 and attaching to the '40 thread to put it together. The picture below only shows one of my "attempts" at a mold for an endcap but have since made one that is functional and a obviously not purple! Would like to make a proper replacement that is molded with the correct ridge, etc. but this is what I have for now.

Driver's armrest

My other '39 had enough material to salvage, etc. Even have some layers that include the marking from the factory worker and faint ink print of PACKARD...Using a portion of the material from original #2, managed to get the armrest repaired. The age of the material worked great from perspective. What's more is my ex was nice enough to do all the stitching for me.

Nice work! Great to be able to keep the originality too.
