The outside mirrors sit on top is the side mount covers if so equipped, or replace the stainless strip at the belt line on the cowl. The latter are hard to find. A door edge clamp on is a functional route if not factory correct

I had castings made to reproduce the mirror support on the belt line for my 42. if interested I can see if the molds are still available. Also will look for horns. Dell

Does the mirror support replace the piece of chrome trim shown in this picture?

I made the supports about twenty years ago that replace that piece of trim. The mirror was a stock item, if memory serves me they are 22 series. Dell
I parted out a 41 years ago, must not of had any horn as I could not find any. Lots of 48s.
