It's easier if you turn the engine so the cam is on the dwell side, at least for re-install.
In other words, loosen or take it off, and turn the engine so the lever has the least pressure on it.

When you rebuild it, use the original pivot shaft for the lever. Aftermarket shafts are not the same diameter and can migrate out. Make sure you secure that shaft in place with retaining wire. (I have a '37 115c, rebuilt it, and the shaft pulled loose, letting the lever drop into the pan. It was not a pleasant day).
