1951 Fresh Air Ducts NEEDED

I have a '51 300 whose 3 fresh air ducts (approx 4.75" ID) are either missing or extremely "holey". Kanter Auto has them for $26 per foot (I would need 3 feet), while Max Merritt offers one for $15, but there is no detail as to size or length.

I am on a tight budget and do not want to waste getting the wrong part. Any ideas? Other period looking, but better functioning options available?

Many thanks for responding to my FIRST post

Aaron

So Calif Chapter of Packards International sells them. Perfect reproductions.

Another member bought a more reasonable alternative for his 54 from McMaster-Carr. It's 5" diameter at around $8 per foot--although they want you to order in 5' increments. I don't know if it's any different looking than the original or how the extra ordered would compare to Packards International price. Check out this thread. Info in post #7.https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=87966#forumpost87966

You can order shorter pieces in one foot increments.

Great tip about using McMaster Carr. . . should have thought of them first. I ended up ordering High-Temperature Blo-R-Vac Duct for Dust which is a little diff. than the post from above mentioned. This one had a higher temp range, and was cheaper cause you can order in 1ft increments.

Total order was $32.10 plus freight.

Thanks everyone. . . I will post again once they are installed.

This is what the reproduction stuff looks like. I want to think when I bought it I paid less then $40 for a piece that was exactly long enough to do both sides. No clamps are needed as the wire tension is enough to hold it on.

Well the McMaster Carr ducts worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip. Even on a cold December day, the install took less than and hour and they look very similar to the above reproductions.

THanks again for the posts!

You should secure the ends with some long, black tie wraps.

The metal vent tubes have little protruding bumps that the wire from the flexible duct should snap over. The reproduction ducting fits over the metal very snug and won't move anywhere once push over those little bumps.
