INTERIOR DESCRIPTION: | The seats are covered with a '50s era
aftermarket seat covers. They look very
much like ones offered in and the '51
accessory brochure, but I wouldn't bet
the car on it. The door panels are
dirty but original and if they clean up,
they'll go in my first '51. The
original seat covering is in much better
shape than my first - no sun rot or
tears. | EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION: | The front clip has been replaced at some
point as it is a different color than
the body. The left rear quarter panel
has rust through behind the wheel - I
suspect from water in the trunk. The
right quarter is better, but not a whole
lot. All the trim is intact and in
quite good condition. The chrome
varies: The grille and front bumper are
very good - the rear bumper has some
clouding from the exhaust.

VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | It has Oregon Special Interest Plates and a Packard Owner's directory from 1996 plus two Ultramatic manuals (two make me a little nervous) and the original owner's manual. The starter will spin the engine but the seller hadn't gotten around to getting it to run. But my old adage about engines is "if it turns over, it will run" (worked with the '55). I chose the "use for parts" because that was my original intent. I may just exchange the better parts to my red one, get this one running and send it on its way. Pictures when I get it home next week. 8/24/11 The further I e into this car the more reservations I have about parting it out. Structurally, it is in better shape than my red 2462. Aside from a lot of surface rust (some serious) there is NO rust. The floor panels are in great shape except for a whole a previous owner cut into the floor to check the fluid lever on the Ultramatic. The trunk still has evidence of flocking. I have yet to check the engine but will do that when the humidity gets back to normal. I wouldn't last two seconds on the east coast or down south. 7/24/13 I've removed the "for parts" notice and put "restore for resale". What that really means in this case is that I'm going to try and get it running and driveable and pass it along to some one who wants one of these but hasn't found the right combination of price, location and condition. I've discovered that for the vast majority of it's life it has been a well preserved and cared for car from Ohio. I found Ohio collector's plates in the trunk. It was only when in was brought from Ohio to Oregon and then sold that it really was left to fend off Oregon weather and didn't do too well. With a good paint job, and a lot of TLC this would be a very fine car. Aside from surface rust, the is rust free except for the lower Trunk area around the opening like every other '51 - 56 that wasn't kept out of the rain.
