VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
The car was originally delivered to Rockford, IL. As best I can tell, it was re-sold to Howard Bert for $469. in October of 1937. The car was originally Thistle dark green. Mr. Bert owned the car until his death in 1992, whereupon his widow sold it to Mr. Charles Matthews of Waukegan in November of '92. At the sale, Mrs. Bert told Mr. Matthews that the Berts referred to the car as their "sparking car", I guess a prelude to romance- no wonder they kept it for 55 years! Mr. Matthews had the car frame off restored, although polaroids that I have of the car prior to restoration show it in pretty good shape. I purchased the car from Mr. Matthews through "The Last Detail" in East Chicago, where he stored and maintained it.
The odometer shows 66, miles, which we don't know if it is accurate or not. It starts and runs perfectly, and in October of 211 won a First Junior from the AACA at the Hershey Fall Meet.
