VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | This is a driver and a 2-footer. It could be a "survivor" except for the paint job, which looks nice, but isn't correct. I've been driving it and working on it since Septmember 212. Drove it home over 2 miles straight from where I bought it in southwestern Minnesota. Originally a Superior, Wisconsin car. Miraculously, it was spotted on the hoist in my local Minneapolis service station by a local man who identified it as the Packard he used to ride around in with his Great Uncle in Superior! Registration documents in the glove box confirmed that it had lived in Superior . I drove the summer 214 to its last known address in Superior, and met the son of the original owner. He told me it was the family car, and he drove it in high school as well. The ownershi trail ends there, so it may have been sold next to the previous owner, Jack, a gentleman from Lake Benton, MN, who did some restoration and shows, His brother, a Studebaker man, inherited it when Jack passed away, and entrusted me with the keys after the money changed hands. I had answered an ad in my local Minneapolis paper, inspected the car and made an offer. It took until late September, but I aquired the car That might be the total history of ownership, possibly making me the 4th owner. My mechanic has been through the brakes and steering (I don't touch anything that makes a car sto and steer) and the car is definitely road worthy, having been to Duluth and back summer, 214, with no problems. | ||||
