Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS: | Engine cylinder block original number of A320784B, near the end (ie 322751) of the 1601, 1602 motor production run, was replaced in 1971 AD with cylinder block numbered A310047 this is sleeved to std cylinder bores, the valve guides are still within production bore diameter tolerances though now with the 1939 recessed counter bores to reduce sticking exhaust valves, and is still current in 2018AD. When number 7 con-rod big end knocked a hole in the block, it sounded like birds under the bonnet/hood, just before locking up at 50 mph. Mains had >0.020" clearance, <0.001" is std. Fire wall factory pressed number remains as >423075<. NZ motor vehicle registration originally wrongly recorded the motor size of 4.6 L, as 2.9 L, and the 7 passenger seating as 5: This also shows on website 'carjam' when searching by number plate CK7362. The original motor was and still is a normal '120's' 282 cu in, ie ~4.6 liters. I have notified NZTA. Just goes to show we need to test and prove all things, to have the truth!
