VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | This car was found at USAuctioneers in Friesland, Wisconsin, as part of the collection of the late Delbert DeYoung. He had a wonderful collection of Buicks from 1936 through 197, with a vast array of 4's and 5's cars. He also had a very nice number of Packards, including a 1938 164 Super 8 Four Door Sedan that sold for $24,5, A 194 18 Series 11 Four Door Sedan that sold for $8,5, a 194 18 Series 18 Four Door Limo that sold for $35,, a 1941 197 Series 4 Door Limo that sold for $29,, as well as a 1956 4 Series 56 Two Door Hardtop. A very nice "Corral" of Packard's to see all in one collection. Would love to have them all, but, each of these needed full restorations and would take a considerable investment in time and money to do them "right". I suspect there will be a day in the future when I look back and think, "Why in the world didn't I buy ALL of those Packard's!" But like everything else in life, it's just a matter of time and money, and having both makes lots of things possible. So, for now, I am a VERY HAPPY Packard Man appreciative for the opportunity to have my First Lady PACKARD home and already being loved! My car had been restored by the staff of Del DeYoung and was the automobile used at his son, Jim's wedding. The amount of work done is considerable and the car in one of the best 1939's I have ever come across. Del's completed project becomes my "starting point" with my attentions now to be given to upgrades and details that take a "Fine Lady Packard Princess" and bring her u to deserving royalty to one day be a "Queen". I already have the most beautiful "Queen" of 35 years, my High School Sweetheart Patti, and this Packard Princess is going to have to be very, very special to ever come close. I would appreciate any hel you can offer to locate, a Bumper Horizontal Grille 3 Bar that connects the Vertical Bumper Guards, a Trunk Luggage Support and Brackets, some Packard Eight new hubcaps, a set of Trippe Fog Lamps with brackets, and perhaps a Radio and Antenna upgrade. Just a dream list for now, but, in time, hoping to see even more of my dreams come true! THANK YOU to all on this most excellent Packard Information Site. It has already been a wonderful source of information, education, advice and fellowshi from an awesome grou of enthusiasts! | ||||
