HOW OFTEN DO YOU SEE A CUSTOMISED PACKARD? ON TOP OF THAT A CONVERTIBLE! THE CAR STARTED IT'S LIFE AS BEING RARE AS THERE WERE ONLY A FEW THOUSAND CONVERTIBLES BUILT THAT YEAR AND NOW IT'S EVEN RARER. A LOT OF CREATIVE THINKING WENT INTO THIS CAR AS TO DESIGN IN AND OUT AND TO THE QUALITY OF THE CRAFTSMANSHIP. NOTHING WAS COMPROMISED WHEN IT CAME TIME TO BUILD IT. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF AN OLD SCHOOL CUSTOM. WHEN ONE LOOKS AT IT MOST ALL COMMENT THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE 50'S WHEN THE TRUTH IS IT IS A𞀅 YEAR OLD BUILD. A LOT OF MODERN DAY TECHNIQUES WERE USED IN BUILDING THIS CAR. THE ENGINE IS A 500 C.I. CADILLAC WITH ALL OF THE SILLY POWER ROBBING COMPONENTS THE GOVERNMENT REQUIRED REMOVED. IT IS FED BY A 4 BBL CARB. IT IS NOW A FREE BREATHER AND CAN RUN DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH THE BIG DOGS. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS PLENTY OF CHROME AND IS UNCLUTTERED. THE INTERIOR IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE. FROM THE CUSTOM GAUGE CLUSTER TO THE FINE UPHOLSTERY EVERYTHING JUST SEEMS TO 'FIT'. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP IS NEW AND IS POWER OPERATED AS ARE THE WINDOWS, SEATS AND TRUNK LID. THE CARPETS ARE NEW AND ALL OF THE GLASS IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. LET'S GET TO THE OUTSIDE. FROM THE FRENCHED HEAD AND TAIL LIGHTS TO THE TASTEFUL MOLDED 'CONTINENTAL' TRUNK LID NOTHING LOOKS OUT OF PLACE OR OVERSTATED. THE PAINT IS EXCELLENT AND THE GHOST FLAMES ARE SO SUBTLE THEY CAN ONLY BE SEEN FROM CERTAIN ANGLES. PICTURE #3 WITH THE MAN DRIVING THE CAR SHOWS THE FLAMES WELL. BOTH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND TRUNK ARE CUSTOM LIT AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS UNDERLIT AS WELL. I'VE NEVER SEEN A CUSTOM WITH A CADDY ENGINE, THIS ONE HAS DUAL 'HOLLYWOOD' MUFFLERS AND SOUNDS SWEET! ON THE OPEN HIGHWAY THE RIDE RIVALS TODAY'S LUXURY SEDANS./p | ||||
