VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | Car has an interesting serial number history. The original sales invoice is dated Oct. 17, 1949 ($2,9) and indicates a 195 Packard Station Sedan of serial no. 2393-5-37 and engine no. G253751D. The number is 2293-4427. The engine and numbers point to a 22nd series auto. I believe that the R9 overdrive was phased out in 1948 and replaced with the R11 toward the end of the 22nd series (please ste in and correct me here if I'm wrong). My guess is that the car is of 1948 assembly and was renumbered (maybe several times) due to slow sales. | ||||
