VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | The data plate is left blank in the delivery date and selling dealer areas so this information is unknown. The theft-proof number on the firewall is <173928>. Casting dates on the crankcase and transmission are from late December, 1932, so the car was assembledmost likelyaround New Year's Day, 1933. It is believed that this car was originally purchased by a tourist hotel in the Canadian Rockies and used for sightseeing trips. The car was purchased by the prior owner in Canada in 1966. He performed a partial restoration and sold it to me in 1992.
Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS: | The carburetor is a non-original Stromberg Aerotype that was used in larger GM and Hudson automobiles into the early 1950's. It has a manual choke./p pThe Bijur lubricating system has been removed and numerous grease fittings have been installed./p pWhen the generator was rebuilt some years ago, the rebuilder told me the generator was from a 1934 Packard this is an improvement, as the '34 generator has a better cooling system and a higher output./p pThe original vacuum-assisted cable-in-conduit braking system was replaced with a non-assisted hydraulic system using Chrysler components, probably in the late '30's-early '40's. The modifications to the brake pedal lever, backing plates, brake shoes, etc. are substantial in nature, and the only component from the vacuum assist system that is still on the car is the vacuum storage tank. This modification was not an improvement as brake pedal effort is greatly increased over the original and stops need to be very carefully anticipated.
