INTERIOR DESCRIPTION: | Original interior in good
condition. A
few minor
stains, but no plans are restoring
at
this time.
Carpeting on floor could use a
good
cleaning.
The goal is to keep it as original
as
possible and
replace items as they need be. | EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION: | Good condition with no plans for a
full repaint.
Chrome is still shining. The
passenger
side front
fender had a previous, very old
repair
that was
failing (layer of red clay with paint
over top).
Kanter
stripped and repainted this fender.
It
appears
that
the inside edge of the "eyebrow" on
this fender
was
hit at some time in the past. Kanter
corrected it
&
matched the paint. | ||

VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | 4FEB17 Car offered to me by Fred Kanter himself in December 216 when he saw my challenges in finding a decent 1955-1956 Packard. He traded a Caribbean for it in 1972. Dan drove this car around the Proving Grounds at 1 miles an hour back in the 197's or early 8's, before it was mostly torn up. It came with wire wheels which weren't part of my purchase and at some point had a modification to the torsion level with 3 toggle switches: automatic, u &am down. Fred put this back to stock. I'll post a picture once it arrives on 7FEB17 to my house. My intention with the car is to kee it as original as possible, as it is an original survivor, something like the Hemming's Classic Cars Drivable Dreams. If something needs attention it will get it, but I do not intend to undertake a full restoration. Just a proper preservation. 11FEB17 car arrived today and took it for its first drive. Fred suggested shampooing the interior and once there's warmer weather I will do just that. But for now it's a little work on the garage to get a few more inches so it'll fit perfectly. 3JUN17 having the Jack Vines Oldsmobile High Output Oil Pum conversion completed by my mechanic, because it is beyond my abilities. Hopefully this will resolve what was later identified as the typical lifter noise due to a Packard oil pump. 11NOV17 removed radiator to have a leak fixed. Re-installed. Radiator continued to leak while in winter storage. 7FEB18 Having radiator recored as another sho has indicated it is beyond saving. I'm currently in Salt Lake the car is still in NJ. Planning on sending the car to MD to have the transmission looked over for any potential work since it would be cost prohibitive to have to send it from Salt Lake for work. 22AUG18 Ross Miller completed work on the car in 1 day. Minor tweaks to the transmission, brakes, engine timing and repairing the torsion level which was previously non-operational. Been waiting for about 2 weeks for Reliable Carrier to picku the car to bring it to Salt Lake. 5MAY2 Car has been sold. | ||||
