VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | Bought from Dick Benjamin of Temecula, Southern California. Dick bought the car from George Sheppy, CA, in 1987 and then rebuilt the motor and transmission at 11K miles (bore was still within standard spec so only honed). Motor removed again at 13K miles and, due to undue wear, crank and bearings replaced (new crank reco'ed back to standard spec). The odo now shows 145K miles, thought to be original. Dick replaced the oil pum with one modified for use without vac pump, fitted premium lifters and replaced the wiper motor with a late '5's GM electric. Car developed an electrical fault in the shift motor soon after arriving in Oz but I was able to fix it with with Dick's advice and assistance (loose "finger" stopped making contact). Everything now seems to work, other than the clock which keeps stopping and the rear power door locks have decided to stop. Will be attended to when the retrim is underway. Car is a great cruiser, but uses a bit of juice (approx 17 mpg Aussie or 14 mpg US at 6 MPH. Latest tri @ 6mph = 19.5 aussie/16 US - much better!). Interestingly, Dick was a personal friend of Dick Teague and drove this Patrician in Dick T's funeral procession. | ||||
