VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | pbought by my pa in law from his dad, had been sitting in a barn for some time. Was ripped apart and cobbled back together by a local guy.. cut off the packard frame about 6" in front of where the cab is, then welded an oldsmobile front end to it crooked (had to cut it back apart and straighten it). He then proceeded to install the oldsmobile motor and transmission (had 13, miles) to the packard frame / olds. front end. Put the nose back on and bent the nose of the original packard to fit the crooked frame.. didnt do any electrical wiring.. installed the crappy looking olds. steering column, threw a base coat on it and called it a$8, job. pSince I've been working on it (about6 months) I've done all of the electrical (powered everything). I've cut and straightened the olds. front end, bent the nose back to where the hood fit on straignt, installed all of the chrome and trim pieces on the exterior, including the grills, bumpers, trunk handle, wood running boards. Interior was done by smith upholstry (local) excellent work knows how to do these cars like the back of his hand. Installed all of the windows, dash, wipers, stereo, etc. Now its time to go through the drive train to make it match the rest of the car. Currently taking the olds. motor and tranny out (should have that done monday) and getting it ready for the new crate 35 with all the shiny parts. Using the 7R4 tranny, should have some updated pictures in a month or so (I'm slow). | ||||
