VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | pI have the receipts for a tune-u in 1975 (Portland, OR)with 72 miles on it &am the receipts for an engine overhaul (Vancouver, WA)in 1965 with 7 miles one it. It looks like it was stored inside by this owner. Registered thru 1978 by this owner. pThe next owner picked it is u &am a 1963 Cadillac convertible about two years ago at an estate sale. He parked the Packard outside (Portland OR). Got tired of storing it, so he sold it to me thru craigslist.com with 72262 miles on it. pIt does not have keys, so I am planning on using a 1955 Studebaker ignition switch &am key until I have the ignition &am trunk locks re-keyed. It looks like all the original parts are there, but it has not been run in some time. After the first of the year, I plan on draining the gas tank (3/4 full) &am flushing the fuel system. &am inspecting the engine. I just don't have time until after the holidays. It looks like only 2 or so miles on it since the late 7s, so I'll need to play a bit before I try turning her over. I did hook u a jumper box to her &am the lights&am power seats work. I am very excited to get started. pstrong1/3/9/strongdrained &am dropped the gas tank. The fuel that was in her was as black as coffee &am smelled to high heaven. The drain plug was frozen, so I had to drain thru the fuel line (took 5 hours) The tank sounds like it has chunks rolling around in it, so I took it to a radiator sho to fix it up. Next up, try &am get the engine to turn pstrong1/31/9/strong removed the plugs (no rust, just normal wear) &am sprayed PB Blaster down them. Also thru the throat of the Carb (probably a waste, but worth the try) -- now I wait a few days &am try to get her to turn over. pstrong2/3/9/strong hooked u my jumper box where the battery should be &am using a remote starter trigger with my fingers crossed I hit it..... She turned very slowly about a 1/2 turn &am stopped! I refilled the holes with PB Blaster &am I'll see what she does when I actually get a battery for her. Next up, see if I can get the rear wheels to turn pstrong2/8/9/strong I just got the rear wheels free (When it was stored they left the parking brake on &am it froze up) Next up, re-wire the ignition switch &am see what happens when I power u the dash. I wonder when the radiator sho will call about my tank. | ||||
