VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
my wife and I were walking through an old wrecking yard in Utah. There sat the Packard. There was an oily rag over the hood ornament, with a tire over that to protect it. My wife fell in love with the hood ornament and the grill. It turns out the yard owner wanted some items I had, so we traded. The car was from Idaho and we liked that, because that is where we are from. There was no engine. The transmission was in the trunk in pieces. It is now restored and has been on the road for 16 years. We love the car. It has so many miles on it now, that it really needs to be redone, but is still very presentable.
Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS:
1976 Chevy 350 engine adapted to the original Packard front mount pads. Turbo 400 transmission adapted to the Packard crossmember. AC compressor is Chevy, the evaporator is an aftermarket unit. It works very well. Everything could be returned to original if someone desired. Electric wipers using a 1956 Chevy wiper motor. This is a bolt on including the Packard control cable. It is necessary to space the wiper motor away from the firewall so it will clear the lip on the firewall. I built a hidden trailer hitch receiver up behind the rear bumper. We tow our Model T speedster with the Packard
