VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
Appears to have been sold new by Packard of Clifton NJ, the original purchaser is unknown to me. I believe the second owner was Gerald Van Dyk, also from the Clifton area, and he had the car until the early 2000s. It was then purchased by the Kanter Brothers, who owned it for almost 20 years. It was sold to Don Johnson of Joliet IL. He invested a lot of money into getting the car ready to br driven anywhere, and was being worked on by Pat Aldrich when Mr. Johnson unfortunately passed away. Pat brokered the sale of the car for Mr. Johnson's son. I bought it after seeing the ad in the PAC Cormorant News Bulletin. The big selling points for me were its ready-to-drive-anywhere status, its relative proximity to me (just one state over), and having been gone through by one of the top Packard V8 experts in the world. Also, red is one of my favorite colors, and so this has rapidly become one of my favorite 1955 Caribbean color combinations.
Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS:
At some point, perhaps in the 1980s or 1990s, the interior was redone in vinyl, and they did not try to reproduce the original upholstery pattern. It will have to be returned to leather and the original pattern at some point. Currently has a black replacement convertible top, which also needs to be replaced.
