VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
pDelivered new to General Walter Storey, a wealthy California real-estate developer and head of the Calif. National Guard. Remained in his service until 1948, when given to his chauffer, who passed away a year later, leaving it to his wife who did not drive. Sat in a field under a tar
until late 1954, when I traded "even", for a (barely) running '41 Cad. 6 S that I had purchased for $25. Disassembled motor and did a "ring and valve" job another one in mid 196's.

Vehicle Modifications
MODIFICATIONS:
In 1962, cut the rear axle just out-board of the "pumpkin" (center section), welded in its place a late 1950's Olds station wagon 3.23 differential. Re-splined the Packard axles (which were easily twice the diameter of the Olds) to fit the Old. gear-set. Original rear end in most Packards of that era was 4.41 (some 4.69 occasionaly find 5.2). /p

pThis means that on a 10,000 mile trip, my car travels THREE THOUSAND MILES LESS than a stock-geared car, or, at a road speed of 70 mph, the original engine, transmisson, and drive line is doing 50 mph.
