VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
Sold 2nd May 1941 by Reynold &am
Johnson
Co Oakland California. Early history to 196 is unknown until it was bought by a dental student
in San Francisco from it's former lady owner. Shortly thereafter he drove it to Boise Idaho and
his ownershi
continued until late 26. Next owner planned to Hot Rod the Coupe, but his changed
priorities saw it sold on eBay early July '07 to myself. I inspected Coupe late July '07, then it
was shipped to California from where it was sea-freighted to Newcastle Australia. After
unloading and customs and quarantine inspections and clearances, shipped to Sydney by tilt bed
truck. Underwent a mechanical restoration between Dec'07 and Jan '09 of suspension, steering,
brakes and new wiring harness and much more. Motor, trans and rear end are OK although I am
sourcing another engine to re-build at which time the trans, clutch, etc will also be
overhauled. Now on full New South Wales registration because Historic vehicle registration is
too restrictive. Still some work to do which will be done over the next few months. Read ALL
about the Coupe and much, much more on my Project Blog here on Packardinfo -
Mal's
41 12 Coupe
Although another block and crank was obtained I decided to rebuild the
original engine which was done Dec'9 to May'1 being resleeved(it was about .9" over!) new
pistons, piston pins, rings, main, big-end &am
cam bearings, block hot tanked, oil pum

rebuilt, hardened exhaust valve seats, 'k' liners inserted in valve guides, new valves, block
and head surfaced, as well as rebuilt clutch pressure plate and new clutch plate, fully
balanced, and much more. Well worth the work and the COST! Overdrive overhauled Aug'1 with
planterary gears replaced and OD wiring glitch fixed. Since then have been on a Rally to
Tamworth, about 6 miles all u
and a National Rally to Kangaroo Island, about 2,26 miles all
with no major problems just little nigglley things. Since the Mal's 41 Club Coupe Blog finished
any further happenings with the Coupe are documented in the
Wades Worksho
Blog
along with lots and lots and LOTS of other
Packard goings on!

Sadly the Coupe was SOLD on 26th October 217, with the new owner being FrankB of Cowra NSW
Australia. Mal(Ozstatman) 28th October 217
