VEHICLE HISTORY/ PROJECT STATUS: | Car was sold in Syracuse NY from Fonda Motors, May 1938. It was owned by a funeral home director and used as his personal vehicle. The car went just north 70 miles to Watertown, NY and was purchased by a family who my father-in-law's parents were very close to. In fact my father-in-law rode in the car as a child growing up in Watertown, NY. The first Watertown owner died in 1958. The car was on blocks until 1971 as my father-in-law was eyeing it for years. After many declines to sell, the deceased owner's daughter finally sold it to him (for $600) at which time he and I took it off blocks, added a new battery and gas and he drove it home. I purchased the car from my father-in-law (for $2300) after hounding him for years and have had it since 1988. My son is next in line to enjoy this baby when I am done with it. I have the original owner's manual, tearoff owner's card and many more original items. Have recently contacted the grandson of the original owner and he remembers his grandpa owning the car. He sent me a photo of the original owner, his grandpa, taken about the time he owned the Packard and the dealership owner. I am continuing to research the history of this vehicle. More info as it becomes available. I am constantly fixing, upgrading or repairing everything on the car as I enjoy this beauty. A labor of love... | ||||
