VEHICLE HISTORY/
PROJECT STATUS:
pThe car was sold by Thomas I Peterson Packard in Santa Barbara, Calif., on June 5, 1941 to Mrs. Katherine DexterMcCormick (among many other notable things, she funded the research and development of "The Pill").She used the car until about 1954 when it was moved into LyonsVan &am
Storage (in Santa Barbara). In 1964, George Ogle, a city fireman, heard about the car and inquired about it and after two years received a letter from Mrs. McCormick (after she had spoken to the fire chief about him) and agreed to sell himthe car. Mr. Ogle drove the car for a decade or so and then parked it in a garage where it sat until I bought it in April, 1997.(I had known George and the car for nearly 25 years by then.) It then sat in mygarage where I started cleaning it up, buffing out the paint and getting itrunning.

pThough it was basically untouched (including the original spare tires) it needed more work than I could do or had room to do. In 26 I invited Glenn Vaughn to take a look at the car. I was very happy with hisappraisal that the car was"too pure to restore" and he had no problem with undertaking a mechanical restoration to make it a dependable driver. The carwas eventually moved to his restoration facility in Idaho andis just about ready to return back home.

pIn October 21, we (being the spousal unit and I) went u
to Post Falls, Idaho to take it for a test drive and see what Glenn's crew had done.Wetook it out for a three-hour tour (first time it'd been driven in 4 years!). Unlike Gilligan, we had a wonderful time. What a car!!!! Here's a video my wife shotwith her cell phone: id classid classa href targethttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUxt444IUMQ/a
